I created this site to help young adults and the caring adults in their lives find “just right” books, taking some of the mystery out of this daunting process. As a reader, I know that not every book is for me and I rely on a wide range of experience and supports to help me find books that meet my needs.
It can be difficult for young adults moving from middle school to high school to develop their own independent reading lives, as support tends to wane and responsibilities increase. It can also be challenging to navigate the world of young adult books, as they tend to vary greatly as the content matures.
In addition to reviewing books, I categorize books in a variety of ways to help you pick the book that’s the just right fit for you or your teen. Rather than boxing you in, I hope these designations encourage you to branch out to try new genres, topics, authors, styles, or levels of challenge. You will also see me write blog posts from time to time that appeal to teachers interested in young adult literature or educational topics.
